The Club's Handicapped Singles competition played out over the past weekend.

Four Sections were drawn for the Round Robin stage, with the winner of each section advancing to the semi-finals.

(Handicaps indicated in brackets)
Section A: Marie 'Miele' vd Merwe [30] pipping PM van Coller [23] to the post on shot difference.
Section B: Renette de Kock [28] undefeated. Garry du Toit [25] finished runner-up.
Section C: Jean 'JJ' Joubert [25] undefeated. Charlotte Morland [27] finished runner-up.
Section D: Des vd Smit [29] undefeated. Avril Kotze [25] finished runner-up.

Miele beat JJ in the one semi-final, while the other semi-final saw Des beat Renette.

Both the finalists had previously won the trophy, with Des being the current holder and Miele in 2009.

In an exciting final Des took an early lead and was up 13-6 only to see Miele come back and tie the game at 13-13. From there on it was a tight affair with each player trading the shot bowl. Congratulations to Miele on winning the match 21-18 (and so reclaim the trophy)!

The standard of play was high throughout the competition which proved a great warm-up to the National Closed Singles (that takes place next weekend).
